The DFT-520 features a high-performance, high-power, highly directional, multi-purpose design housed in an exceptionally compact enclosure. It is equipped with dual 10-inch (63mm long-stroke voice coils) premium-quality neodymium bass drivers, four 4-inch midrange drivers with phase plugs, and a 3-inch compression tweeter featuring a 75mm voice coil. The compact cabinet design incorporates a perfectly engineered, versatile rigging system that ensures effortless installation and enhanced mobility for convenient transport and setup.
The DFT-520 features a proprietary waveguide and horn design, offering a constant vertical directivity of 10°, while its horizontal directivity is adjustable at 110°, 90°, and 70°. In practical applications, the horizontal directivity can even be selected asymmetrically. Notably, when set at 70°, the high-frequency sound pressure level automatically increases by 2 dB, enabling the speaker to achieve a range more than 50% greater than at the 110° setting. At the same time, the core of the DFT-520’s waveguide-and-horn design ensures that high-frequency sound waves maintain a linear phase, delivering a natural, clear, and captivating midrange experience. Additionally, the use of baffles helps reduce the acoustic center spacing among the four midrange drivers, effectively raising the upper limit of the working frequency range where midrange frequencies operate without interference or clipping. Equipped with a bass-reflex design, the DFT-520 efficiently extends its low-frequency response downward. Its custom-designed woofer unit is perfectly matched with the dedicated bass enclosure and curved reflex port, while a specially engineered bass baffle further enhances the radiation impedance of the low frequencies. As a result, the overall low-frequency performance is not only exceptionally deep and powerful but also remarkably clear and well-defined.
The phase and frequency response are achieved using the manufacturer-prepared DFT-520 DSP preset, complete with driver protection settings. Additionally, the application of FIR technology ensures linear phase characteristics in the mid-to-high frequency range, resulting in and captivating mid-to-high frequencies with precise sound imaging.
