The GD-18B is a high-performance, high-power, lightweight, multi‑purpose loudspeaker with an exceptionally compact cabinet design, featuring a 18‑inch (100 mm voice coil) high‑quality subwoofer.
The proprietary horn delivers exceptionally smooth, highly reliable performance. As the result of meticulous research conducted in the Real Sound anechoic chamber, its design exhibits consistently stable directivity. Within its operating frequency range of 800 Hz to 20 kHz, the beamwidth remains tightly controlled and uniform in both the horizontal and vertical planes. Consequently, all frequencies outside the designated beam are uniformly attenuated, minimizing side‑lobe effects. This ensures a consistent, predictable polar pattern, which simplifies system design and keeps array‑induced cancellation interference to an absolute minimum. Utilizing factory‑preprogrammed settings, the built‑in DSP employs electronic crossover‑based equalization to correct phase and frequency response, while incorporating driver‑protection features. Phase‑correction processing further guarantees a flat acoustic amplitude and phase response, yielding outstanding impulse response and precise imaging.
The GD series offers multiple mounting options for enhanced aesthetics. Its well‑designed suspension system is suitable for both overhead installation and floor placement, while its precise rigging allows for accurate positioning and angle adjustment, ensuring optimal, smooth, and uniformly even horizontal coverage. It comes fully equipped with a comprehensive suspension setup, including an adjustable rear‑mounting bracket tailored for diverse on‑site applications. This rear‑mounting bracket enables linear cabinets to be tilted between 0° and 10° during hoisting or when placed on the ground.
The GD series features a highly innovative, patented aluminum‑frame rigging system that enables direct, rapid installation and simplifies transport. With a compact cabinet design measuring just 592 mm in width, it is a true member of the RealSound GD series.
Like all RealSound cabinets, the GD-18B is constructed from Baltic birch plywood and finished with a robust black epoxy coating to withstand even the harshest conditions. The speaker grille is crafted from premium 14‑gauge perforated steel and features a highly durable, commercial‑grade powder coat for superior water resistance.
