The GD-221 features a high-performance, high-power, highly directional, lightweight, multi‑purpose design with an exceptionally compact cabinet. It delivers two 10‑inch (63 mm voice coil) high‑quality neodymium woofers and two 1.7‑inch (44 mm voice coil) compression driver modules for the tweeter.
The GD Series features high performance, high power, precise directivity, lightweight construction, versatile functionality, and an exceptionally compact cabinet design—Real Sound’s latest innovation in portable line‑array technology. It integrates cutting‑edge solutions across the full frequency spectrum, delivering outstanding control over sound directivity. The GD Series comprises nine models, all of which can be freely combined.
The proprietary horn delivers exceptionally smooth, highly reliable performance. As the result of meticulous research conducted in the RealSound anechoic chamber, its design exhibits consistent directivity. Within its operating frequency range of 800 Hz to 20 kHz, the beamwidth remains tightly controlled and uniform in both the horizontal and vertical planes. Consequently, all frequencies outside the designated beam are uniformly attenuated, minimizing side‑lobe effects. This ensures a consistent, predictable polar pattern, which simplifies system design and keeps array‑induced cancellation interference to a minimum. Utilizing a factory‑preprogrammed DSP, an electronic crossover corrects phase and frequency response, while driver‑protection settings further enhance reliability. Phase‑correction processing guarantees a flat acoustic amplitude and phase response, yielding outstanding impulse response and precise sound imaging.
The GD series offers multiple mounting options for enhanced aesthetics. Its well‑designed suspension system not only accommodates a variety of installation scenarios—whether suspended or floor‑standing—but also enables precise positioning and angle adjustment, ensuring optimal, smooth, and uniformly even horizontal coverage. It comes fully equipped with a comprehensive suspension setup, including an adjustable rear‑mounting bracket tailored to suit diverse on‑site configurations. This rear‑mounting bracket allows the linear cabinet to be tilted between 0° and 10° during both suspension and floor‑standing installations.
The GD series features a highly innovative, patented aluminum‑based rigging system that enables direct, rapid installation, streamlined setup, and convenient transportation. With a compact cabinet design measuring just 592 mm in width, it is a true member of the RealSound GD series.
Like all RealSound cabinets, the GD-221 is constructed from Baltic birch plywood and finished with a robust black epoxy coating to withstand even the harshest conditions. The speaker grille is crafted from premium 14‑gauge perforated steel and features a highly durable, commercial‑grade powder coat for superior water resistance.
