The 2016 Tangshan World Horticultural Exposition was hosted by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, State Forestry Administration, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Flower Association, and Hebei Provincial Government, with the Tangshan Municipal Government serving as the organizer. Tangshan became the first prefecture-level city in China to host a World Horticultural Exposition. Notably, this marked the first time the World Horticultural Expo utilized land previously affected by coal-mining subsidence—specifically, areas that had already sunk due to mining activities—thus avoiding any encroachment on farmland. The expo grounds cover an impressive 506 hectares. The theme of the event was "City and Nature: Phoenix Rising," symbolizing fashionable horticulture, eco-friendly practices, and a low-carbon lifestyle, while emphasizing the harmonious coexistence of urban life and nature.
The 2016 Tangshan World Horticultural Exposition has already opened. Entering through Gate No. 1, you'll find yourself closest to the music fountain located along the shores of South Lake.
